Great wines from the Douro Valley
Port and Madeira from Portugal are famous all over the world. The Portuguese have always loved wine, ranking third in the European drinking chart and their winemakers are showing they have what it takes to compete on an International stage. The Douro Valley, home of Port, also produces some good classic dry reds from the same local grape varieties (Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz). Subtle yet intense, with blackcurrant and plum flavours, these wines are certainly worth a look. Moving westwards, the Atlantic coast is home to some wonderful dry whites. Palates are thrilling to the unique taste of Portugal's indigenous grapes - come and see for yourself!
