Le vin

Ce millésime 2010 nous présente une robe rubis. Une magnifique robe avec des reflets grenat. Cette robe est captivante et capte la lumière.

Le nez est très expressif malgré son jeune âge. Il est dominé par des notes croquantes de fruits rouges.

La bouche possède une attaque dynamique, une bouche pleine de passion. Des notes sentis au préalable au nez se ressentent en bouche. Des notes croquantes à des notes plus boisées. La texture est crémeuse avec des tanins fondus. La finale est élégante, délicate et puissante.

There is a beautiful texture to this and it has real depth of flavour. Plus it has the wonderful mark of the 2010 vintage in its freshness and upward curve through the palate. There are some fresh mint notes against the ripe black fruits, which you might expect to find more on the left bank than the right bank. This is well balanced even at 15% abv —and I am not normally a fan of Merlot heading so high. The 2010 was harvested two weeks later than the 2009, as pickers had to wait for the skins to get fully flexible and ripe. Matured in 50% new oak

Dégusté en primeurs, il nous avait surpris en décrochant un 17. Dégusté fin 2013, il confirme son niveau avec encore plus d’élégance dans les tanins. Il joue la finesse, ce qui lui réussit dans un registre floral et délicat du plus bel effet.

This 2010 is a spectacular wine from Anabelle Cruse-Bardinet from her 33-acre vineyard in the lieu-dit Corbin (hence the name of the château). Lush, concentrated black currant and kirsch-like fruit, a hint of licorice and some floral notes and subtle background oak jump from the glass of this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It is another relatively large-scaled St. Emilion at 15% natural alcohol, but the good news is that there are nearly 4,500 cases of this wine in the marketplace. The purity, sumptuous texture and seductive nature of this wine will endear it to most readers. It’s certainly a sleeper of the vintage, as Corbin has rarely made a wine of this intensity and richness, at least not in many a year. Drink it over the next 15+ years.

Avec ce millésime, ce cru classé, suivi par le discret mais très efficace Jean-Philippe Fort, a trouvé sa vitesse de croisière. Le vin conserve une grande distinction et gagne en corpulence. Déjà, 2009 avait marqué un cap dans le style du vin. 2010 confirme que Corbin a atteint un niveau de qualité que l’on ne lui a pas connu depuis longtemps.
